Ryan Miller
Senior Vice President – Drilling
Mr. Miller is Senior Vice President of Drilling for Kraken Resources. He joined Kraken in September of 2016 as a Drilling Manager. In the period between September 2016 and December 2018 he built Kraken’s drilling program, which successfully drilled 160+ Bakken/Three Forks and salt water disposal wells in the Williston Basin.
Before joining Kraken, Mr. Miller spent 5 years as a Drilling Supervisor and Drilling Engineer for Hess Corporation’s Bakken Asset where he managed all aspects of well design, procurement, and execution while specializing in drilling optimization utilizing lean manufacturing principles. During his tenure, he directly oversaw the engineering and drilling operations for over 250 horizontal wells and was part of a team that drilled over 1,200 Bakken and Three Forks wells. While at Hess, Mr. Miller also worked as a Production Operations Engineer in Hess’ Permian Enhanced Oil Recovery Project located in Gaines County, Texas. There he was responsible for production surveillance, workover recommendations/planning, and wellsite supervision. Prior to that role, he also served as a Facility Engineer for Hess’ offshore development project off the coast of Equatorial Guinea where he was responsible for project engineering, and execution planning for turnaround projects. Mr. Miller started his oil and gas career at ExxonMobil working in a variety of engineering roles in their Co-op Program.
He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Associations of Drilling Engineers. Mr. Miller earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and Minor in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
