President & CEO

Mr. Larsen is President & CEO of Kraken Resources. He has more than 24 years of oil and gas exploration and production experience specializing in leadership, business development, resource identification, geologic modeling, reservoir characterization and operational geology.  

Before forming Kraken, Mr. Larsen co-founded and was Executive Vice President of Ursa Resources Group LLC, where he led the company’s Williston Basin entry, developed the company’s Bakken Shale geologic model, and oversaw leasing of 120,000 net acres. Prior to Ursa, Mr. Larsen spent eight years at Shell E&P where he specialized in reservoir modeling and quantitative interpretation, working various assignments in New Orleans, Houston and the Netherlands.    

Mr. Larsen was born and raised in Sidney, Montana, at the epicenter of the Bakken Play in Elm Coulee Field and is intimately familiar with all aspects of the Williston Basin. He is a member of the AAPG, earned a B.S. Geological Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and an M.B.A. from Tulane University.
